February NewsletterFebruary 13th was the date of our meeting.Written by Sandra Brook But instead of celerbrating St. Valentines on the 14th with a run through the almond blossom of the Jalón valley, we decided on doing something different. We reservered a Restaurant in Elche instead, because the almond blossom were not doing very well in Jalón. The Restaurant is not very far from Alicante airport, so it made it almost the same distance to travel,for most of our members from the north and south . Mike our president connected with the northern group at the motorway services ,then took a run through an área that did have full blossoming almond trees. Some other members made their own way to El Balconet in Valverde ,and while waiting for the group to arrive they enjoyed a refreshment in the gardens, while soaking up the beutiful february sunshine. Den our treasurer was also bringing in his group from the south , And in true Den fashion his arrival was proclaimed noisely ,as his car horn was blarring loudly in short blasts. After filling the car park, with some Jaguars nose to tail, it just had to happen while eating our meal, that a car wanted to get out. What a nightmare,because we took it that the 2 cars were staff vehicles. So Mike had to call out each driver to back out of the way.
